Stain & Seal Polyurethane is a super durable, hard wearing translucent water-based, one step stain and sealer for use on raw timber and over painted surfaces. Available in six beautiful colours. Available in 200ml and 600ml jars.
Stain&Seal Polyurethane is a one step stain and sealer. Packed with polyurethane resin it is super hard wearing and suitable for use on kitchen benches, table tops, vanities and floors. Water-based and water-resistant Stain & Seal Polyurethane can be used to stain and seal raw timber, refresh precoated timber or even as a glaze over painted finishes. VOC free and virtually odourless, Stain&Seal Polyurethane can be applied with a damp sponge, brush or short nap roller. Depth of colour can be increased with additional layers. The sample boards show the difference between 1, 2 and 3 coats. Different effects can be achieved by layering different shades of Stain&Seal. Variations in timber grain can be evened out with careful application of this product, building up layers on lighter areas to colour correct the surface. Stain & Seal Polyurethane dries to a super matte finish and can be used to achieve a protected "raw stripped" appearance that is so on trend.
How to use: we recommend sanding and cleaning with Artisan Easy Scrub to ensure that the surface is clean and free from dirt, wax, oil, or flaking paint. Apply Stain&Seal Polyurethane with a damp sponge, working well into the grain and then finishing in long strokes with the grain. Surface may be lightly misted with water to ensure smooth coverage.
Normal drying time is 20-30 minutes, and the surface can be recoated after 2-hours. Sand with 400+ grit sandpaper between coats for a silky smooth finish. Leave to cure for seven days for best results. Dries to a matte finish, however if a sheen is desired apply a top coat of satin or gloss Artisan Polyvarnish, or apply a coat of Artisan Finishing wax and buff well.
To use as a glaze: apply to carved detail, pushing well into detail and wipe away excess using a damp cloth.
Coverage: Approximately 6–10 square metres per litre, depending on application technique and surface roughness
